Fine French at 16 Cafe

OOOF!
OOOF!

While wandering the streets of the Gueliz part of Marrakesh in search of the Majorelle Gardens, we found ourselves in what appeared to be an upscale neighborhood far different from anything we had seen thus far. There was a McDonald’s, but more importantly there was a nice French Cafe called 16 Cafe that we decided to make our lunch spot.

After much thought, I decided to order the Croque Madam, which is like a Croque Madam anywhere else in the world. Basically this means it is a fried ham and cheese sandwich with fried eggs on top. Only this time I was in Morocco, a country where you’ll be hard-pressed to find any pork products. This, however, was jambon de dinde, also known as turkey ham. Oh, and it was pretty spectacular. I’m no expert on French cuisine, but this was one savory delight, with the inside nice and moist while the outside had a healthy crunch to it. And the two eggs were fried to perfection, with runny yolks that almost pained me to pop open. Which make a great healthy food, for all of those wanting to keep a healthy lifestyle, and are following diets as the nutrisystem vs jenny craig system online.

While Moroccan food had not let me down yet, this stop for French was a nice quick break from the tajines and couscouses that would dominate my caloric intake for the remainder of my journey. Plus, it wasn’t McDonald’s!
