Boo CO2

Have you ever wondered what the carbon footprint of your food is? No? Me neither, but apparently some people do. Fortunately, the University of New South Wales in Australia has found that red meat is quite the carbon-efficient food, bringing one more bit of great news from the world of meat-eating.

Sadly, this bit of news doesn’t apply to all red meat, as a majority of Australian meat is grown on real pastures and and all that sort of non-factory farm stuff. Yet, it is proof that meat done right can prove those pesky vegans wrong about their crazy claims about how meat harms the environment.

And carbon efficiency is only a part of it. According to the article in Queensland Country Life, “Most people were not aware that the livestock sector was the only production industry in Australia to have reduced greenhouse emissions since 1990.” That’s pretty incredible, considering how greenhouse gases remain such a hot topic (pun intended) and many people blame livestock.

So thank you to Australia for helping to prove that meat is not only incredibly delicious on my plate, but still good for the environment.

Definite meat eater.

Eva Longoria-Parker busted onto the scene a few years ago with Desperate Housewives and back then she didn’t have that pesky “-Parker” attached to her name. Since then, though, she has managed to retain her beauty by keeping a steady diet of meat products.

In a recent interview, she claimed, “I am a big eater, but I do watch what I eat. I love to cook and just love Mexican food. It’s my weakness and any red meat, I just love it.” It’s hard to disagree with that and the diet has obviously worked out well for her. I also watch what I eat, just before I stick a fork in it and plunge it into my mouth. How could anyone resist red meat or Eva Longoria-Parker? Now just imagine those two together and you’re getting somewhere.

So for loving red meat and looking great as a result, Eva Longoria-Parker, you are a true Unvegan Hero.

Top me off!

Everyone knows about wine pairings. It is a mostly pretentious way for restaurants to sell their expensive wines in conjunction with their dishes. Even for those who avoid those pairings, any good eater or drinker knows to match red wine with red meats and white wine with white meats and fish. But enough about wine, where has beer ended up in this alcoholic conversation? Fusion Brewing in Australia has tried to answer this question with a beer made specifically for drinking with red meat.

Named Prime Beer, this beverage quickly elicits thoughts of a delicious prime beef. According to their website, “Other beer products claim to go well with meat however none were created from the start specifically for this purpose.”

Unfortunately, living outside of Australia has precluded me from tasting this beer, but I’m sure it is pretty awesome. Not only is it supposed to be good with beef, but they claim it will go well with kangaroo! A beer good enough for kangaroo is a beer good enough for me. After all, just about anything inspired by meat is sure to be amazing.

unvegan ironworkzI really have no idea where this video came from, although I do believe there is a British accent involved. Nonetheless, this awesome video features a faux band called IronWorkz and this band helps tell the tale of why red meat is so important to the diet. It’s refreshing to see an entertaining ad like this in a world flooded with tasteless and really unfunny PETA ads. Check it out below, and be entertained.

According to studies from Australia, red meat is a great way to increase sex drive. Could it be the new Viagra?

The study compared butchers who eat a lot of red meat to average non-butcher people and the results reflect well upon red meat eaters.

Here are the best findings of the report:

Butchers report eating red meat more often than the average person, consuming 3.4 serves a week. Butchers are:

  • Having more sex: Butchers report having sex 60pc more than the rest of us, averaging over 100 sexual encounters a year, while the national average is fewer than 70.
  • More energetic: More than half of all butchers report they wake up feeling energetic, compared to just a quarter of the rest of us.
  • Healthier: Over 50pc of butchers have had no time off sick in the past year compared to only 18pc of Australians. For those who did fall ill, they took an average of 1.1 days sick leave a year compared with 3.2 days for the rest of the population.
  • Laughing more: Butchers appear to have the last laugh with three out of five saying they have a fun work environment. Fewer than one in four Aussies describe their workplace as “good fun.”

That’s enough to convince me to go out and get a steak, with a side of libido.

A new ad for meat has been making its way over the internet all the way from Australia. The star of the ad is none other than Sam Neill, the dinosaur-killing star of Jurassic Park. It kind of makes me wonder what dinosaur meat would taste like. Also, would it be red or white?

In the commercial, Neill touts red meats for their “omega-3s, zinc and iron.” These are all important nutrients that I would like to have in my body. As the meat is being cooked, it draws the attention of everyone in the neighborhood. I’m pretty sure the “scent” of a veggie burger wouldn’t have that effect.

For showcasing the importance of red meats and protecting the world from dangerous dinosaurs, Sam Neill, you are a true Unvegan Hero!

Another Reason to Love Steak https://unvegan.com/rants-and-raves/another-reason-to-love-steak/ Thu, 11 Jun 2009 19:44:59 +0000 https://unvegan.com/updates/?p=2097 No related posts. ]]> The Daily Mail in the UK just released information about the affect of steaks and other red meats on male semen (as opposed to female semen, ewwww). The conclusion is that it decreases the quality of the semen and makes them slower. It actually makes it much more difficult for men to conceive. It’s funny, because the article makes this information out to be a bad thing. Well, I’m not planning on becoming a father anytime soon, which means it’s time for me to eat all the steak I can get my hands on. Talk about a natural contraceptive. This is the best news I’ve gotten since studies showed Mountain Dew decreases the sperm count.

The article also claims that having regular sex can increase the quality of sperm. So I guess when I decide to have a baby I’ll just have to have a lot of sex to balance out the decrease in quality from all that tasty meat.
