I’m not really sure who Michael Pollan is or why he is famous. These matters are inconsequential to me. What does matter to me is that the man has somehow become famous enough to spout off nonsense about meat-eaters. We unvegans are a strong, proud bunch and we are not to be taken lightly. So when a guy like Pollan starts spilling untruths, we recognize that he must be stopped. Pollan recently said, “A vegan in a Hummer has a lighter carbon footprint than beef-eater in a Prius.” He couldn’t have been more wrong.
According to The Car Connection,
…studies have shown that meat-eaters generate two tons more CO2 per year than their vegan neighbors, the Hummer is possible for 4.76 tons more CO2 per year than the Toyota Prius.
Do the math and you’ll find meat to be a lot better for the world than driving a Hummer. Of course, these are extremes, but it just shows the sort of nonsensical propaganda anti-unvegans are spreading. Knowledgeable people know that Pollan is wrong, but his false words can still cause a lot of damage. It’s up to every unvegan in the world to stand up this verbal abuse and show the world it will not be tolerated.

Not commenting on this particular quote but Michael Pollan is absolutely not against eating meat. I highly recommend his books on the topic of food, The Omnivore’s Dilemma and In defense of Food. Or perhaps just this essay: http://michaelpollan.com/article.php?id=87
Thanks, I’ll have to check it out. The quote hit me a bit close to home, considering I am a meat-eating Prius driver…
