Where’s the beef?

According to HKM lawyers, when it comes to religion, it’s generally frowned upon for a company to push its views on its employees. Yet, what about other views? Say, like eating meat? WeWork just announced that not only would the company no longer provide catering with meat at its office locations, but that it wouldn’t even allow employees to expense meals with meat.

Yes, you read that right. No more meat. WeWork claims it is to cut down on greenhouse gases, water use and whatnot, but it has been proven time and time again that if meat suppliers use sustainable practices, meat is actually better for the environment than plant agriculture. It’s only a matter of paying more money to make that happen. At a $20B valuation, one might think WeWork has enough money to make that happen.

Yet, that is not a path that WeWork decided to tread. They took the easy way out, because at the end of the day that bean curd and kale salad is cheaper than sustainable meat. I don’t knock a company for trying to make a profit, but I do knock a company for acting like it is being altruistic about it. If WeWork was upfront about the real reason – namely some PR and pushing views on other people – things might be a little different. Unfortunately, that’s not the case.

So, for besmirching meat for all the wrong reasons, WeWork is one heck of an unvegan villain.

Trent Williams: Unvegan Hero https://unvegan.com/heroes/trent-williams-unvegan-hero/ Sun, 24 Sep 2017 17:00:39 +0000 https://unvegan.com/?p=16482
A new kind of hero.

The movie What the Health? has been blowing up lately. Even so far as pushing NFL left tackle Trent Williams to become a vegan. I haven’t yet seen the movie, but I do know that movies or other pieces of media show up like this here and there, only to have copious responses trying to debunk them and whatnot. I’m above all that, but when Trent Williams came out to say he cannot continue his vegan diet, I was ready to jump on it.

Learn more about java burn benefits.

It turns out that he was simply losing weight way too rapidly on the vegan diet. And while he respects that a lot of people just want to find a weight loss supplement at https://geekshealth.com that can help them lose weight, that doesn’t quite work when you are an NFL left tackle. So, he’s back to animal protein, but paying a lot more attention to what he eats. Abuse of exercise and nutrition can lead to erectile dysfuncion, treat it with hyper male force.

And you know what, who wouldn’t support that? Everyone should work hard to be knowledgeable about what they eat. And if you want to try some fad diets like veganism here and there, no one should fault you. But at the end of the day, it’s important to recognize that veganism is just a diet and hopefully one that is just a fad. These are the best nitrilean reviews.

So, for pointing out that the vegan diet isn’t for everyone and embracing animal-based food back into your life, Trent Williams, you are a True Unvegan Hero!

Tennis hero.

Tennis is the ultimate individual sport and while the world may be sick and tired of players who have been dominating for more than a decade, Sloane Stephens just breathed some new life into the sport with a win at the US Open. All this is good and well, but more importantly she knew how to celebrate – with some of the greatest food of all.

According to TMZ, Stephens went off to the steakhouse. Being in New York, she went to a place called STK, which I will probably have to get to next time I’m in town and win a tennis championship. Allegedly she came in with a whole posse and went crazy on some meaty dishes, finishing off with some delicious steaks.

It’s good to see that despite the rollercoasters of trends in the food world, there is still nothing like celebrating the results of hard work with a good old fashioned steak.

So, for being the change to tennis that we were all looking for, but afraid to ask for, and for celebrating that fact with a steak, Sloane Stephens, you are a true Unvegan Hero!

Ride that steak.

The Mountain Who Rides is easily one of the most memorable characters from A Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones to you TV folk) and perhaps one of the best cast as well, at least the third time.

This skull-crushing character is played by none other than Hafthor Julius Bjornsson, one of the world’s strongest men and clearly not a vegan. Recently, he set out for a restaurant called Viva Brazil in Wales to take down some steak. Viva Brazil is a churrascaria, in which pretty much everything on the menu is meat (although I couldn’t find any viper on their online menu). And it’s no wonder, you don’t build up a frame like that with veggies.

So, for being truly mountainous and understanding the greatness of steak, Hafthor Julius Bjornsson, you are a true Unvegan Hero!

unvegan gloria gaynor
She will survive

Steak steak steak. Steak steak. Steak. Survival. As far as I’m concerned, these are the thoughts that run through Gloria Gaynor’s head constantly.

Why do I think this? Well first off, we should cover the “survivor” aspect. It may be obvious to some, but Gloria Gaynor sang “I Will Survive,” which almost everyone everywhere knows. So she survives. And I’m guessing she thinks about it often.

The steak, though, is a little less well-known. Fortunately, though, a recent Huffington Post article revealed Gaynor’s love of steak to the world. In the article, Gaynor reveals the history of her love for steak, which began with filet mignon, but evolved to rib eye, which means the two of us have something in common. Rib eye is certainly my favorite steak, and it is good to know that I am in good company.

Interestingly, her favorite steak comes from Ruth’s Chris, which I have not yet had the opportunity to try. Obviously, I’m going to need to, because Gaynor has tried steak all over the country and the world. She claims even Argentina can’t beat Ruth’s Chris.

So for doing whatever it takes to survive and devouring steaks like a pro, Gloria Gaynor, you are a true Unvegan Hero!

You have a point.

One of the last bastions of the vegan superiority complex is that eating meat is bad for the environment. There have certainly been holes in this argument, putting vegetables in an equally damaging light, but thanks to Allan Savory we can now say meat can really save the world where vegetables can’t.

To back that up, below is a TED Talk Savory recently delivered and while he isn’t the most eloquent speaker, he has a cool Rhodesian accent and makes some mind-blowing points.

Of his points, I think the most important one to take away is that the land he works with can only sustain animal agriculture. No disgusting vegetables can be grown there and the vegetation that grows naturally can only be eaten by animals. Plus, he barely scratches the surface the amazing impact this will have upon the greenhouse effect by reducing carbon loss into the atmosphere.

Of course, critics will say that this is not scalable and that deserts are an important part of the world’s ecosystem. Those critics will be correct. This will only work in lands that have succumbed to desertification – lands that have become deserts because of human intervention. But trust me, there are certainly plenty of those and they are not an important part of the ecosystem by any means. There are no highly specialized awesome species adapted to those lands because those deserts are simply unnatural.

It’s also important to realize that he is advocating “livestock mimicking nature.” This doesn’t mean factory farming, it means copious planning with the end result being more meat and an end to desertification. Perhaps the best part of all is that Savory backs all of his talk up with a proven track record. He’s not just some meat blogger sitting on his computer coming up with theories. He is out there getting it done and changing the world for the better.

So, for proving the importance of meat and doing your part to save the world along the way, Allan Savory, you are a true Unvegan Hero!

Get me some steak, willya?

Newt Gingrich’s life has been a political rollercoaster, with perhaps the biggest moment coming in an upcoming episode of Parks and Recreation. You see, Newt’s love for steak simply could not be overlooked by the show that already features fictional Unvegan Hero Ron Swanson.

So how did this all come about? Pretty simple actually. While Parks and Rec was filming at St. Elmo Steak House (possible reference to Rob Lowe’s classic St. Elmo’s Fire?!), Newt Gingrich stopped by to grab a steak and found the place closed. But, rather than turn him away, the show took the opportunity to write him into a scene.

So, for loving steak and for using that love of steak to parlay yourself into a cameo on a hilarious TV show, Newt Gingrich, you are a true Unvegan Hero!

id=- Look forward to bacon.

The great thing about this whole Unvegan Hero/Unvegan Villain thing is that there are so many opportunities to praise Detroit/Michigan athletes and knock down their rivals. But when I found out a little something about Jeff Francoer, I knew I had to give a rival his due.

Francoeur plays for the Kansas City Royals, who happen to be in the same division as my Detroit Tigers. But while we are division rivals, the Royals haven’t been relevant in as long as I can remember. Plus, KC is home to some of the best BBQ in the world, so it gets a few points there. Anyway, this is more about Francoeur, who has brought unvegan delights into baseball in a most interesting way.

It began last year, when visiting Oakland, that “Francoeur tossed a ball wrapped in a $100 bill into the elevated bleacher seats above his outfield spot, instructing fans to use it to buy bacon or beer,” according to the Washington Post. This day became known as bacon Tuesday.

This year he gave the section their own personal pizzas (hopefully without veggies). Veggies or no, these gestures have made Francoeur a popular man in Oakland, despite the fact that he comes from the opposing team.

As for me, if he were playing against my team, I would have a hard time choosing between bacon and a W. I guess I would just hope that losing a game wouldn’t stop Francoeur from making baseball a much more fun and delicious game to watch.

So for your staunch support of bacon, pizza and beer, Jeff Francoeur, you are a true Unvegan Hero!

We can’t all be perfect…

I’m going to be up front with: until I started browsing the internet for meat news today, I had no idea who Liam Hemsworth was. But now, with the beauty of research, I can proudly proclaim him as an Unvegan Hero.

Why?

Well, it certainly has nothing to do with his poor decision to date Miley Cyrus. But before I get into some tirade about Miley and how damn catchy “Party in the USA” is, let’s concentrate on the meat at hand.

You see, Liam Hemsworth recently described what a meal is like at his favorite date spot, Steak and Shake. He said, “When I look over at her when she’s biting into a steak sandwich and there is some steak sauce dripping down her chin, there is nothing sexier than that.”

I might even be able to agree with that. Of course, I’ve never seen Miley dripping with steak sauce, but I have to imagine it is one of the few things that can make her sexy.

I just have to question the choice of Steak and Shake, because the last one I went to had a bearded lady that looked mildly tastier than the actual steak sandwich I ordered.

Yet, the point is that Hemsworth has realized that steak makes women sexy, and that is certainly something any good unvegan can agree with.

So, for realizing how aesthetically pleasing a smattering of steak sauce can look on the face of the one you are making extracurricular activities with, Liam Hemsworth, you are a true Unvegan Hero!

Not just another piece of meat.

Remember that show called The OC? Me neither, but apparently it existed at some point and produced some famous people. One of these people was named Mischa Barton and while the majority of her career has disappeared since that show, she has recently reappeared, looking better than ever.

And why would she be looking better? Well, some photographer named Tyler Shields decided to do a little photo shoot with her. No, nothing creepy like that, but awesome in the sense that she is featured with some delicious steak. In all of the shots, the steak is served rare, but Mischa doesn’t seem to care. In one shot, she stares longingly at the steak dangling above her with her tongue out. In another, she takes a deep bite and inevitably, she finds the steak covering half of her face.

Finally, after years of searching for the perfect costar to reignite her career, I think Mischa has found it in steak. And we all know that anything that helps make steak look good, makes the unvegan lifestyle look even better. I can only hope that after the shoot, Mischa and Tyler threw that meat on the grill and had themselves a barbecue. I can’t picture any better way to end a photo shoot.

So, for allowing a beautiful steak to grace you with its presence, Mischa Barton, you are a true Unvegan Hero!
