Justin and Dave: Unvegan Heroes

Geniuses? (Geniui?)
Geniuses? (Geniui?)

In every generation, there is an idea that changes the world. Finally, the change for our generation has arrived: Bacon Salt.

Justin and Dave are the geniuses behind this magnificent invention. Not content to eat foods that don’t taste like bacon, they developed a seasoning to make everything taste like it. Not only that, but they added multiple flavors, like hickory, applewood and more!

The kicker?

Following Padma Lakshmi to Carl’s Jr.

Not nearly as sexy as it could be...
Not nearly as sexy as it could be…

When I first learned of Padma Lakshmi doing a commercial for Hardee’s, I knew I would have to eat whatever she did. Luckily, her burger of choice was the Western Bacon Thickburger.

Now here is where things get a little confusing. In California, there is no Hardee’s. Instead, there is Carl’s Jr., which is almost exactly the same as Hardee’s. A quick look at their websites reveals only a change in the name. The logo and layouts remain the exact same. There is, however, another twist. At Carl’s Jr., there is no such thing as a Thickburger, rather, it is called the Six-Dollar Burger.

It's just...so...pretty...
It’s just…so…pretty…

As the host of Top Chef and the writer of healthy cookbooks, I originally wrote Padma Lakshmi off as vegetarian health nut. All that changed when I saw the picture to the left. There are few things that make me happier than seeing a beautiful woman taking down such a well-prepared piece of meat.

I also have found out that she will be doing ads for Hardee’s (Carl’s Jr.) Bacon Western Thickburger. It’s enough to make me run out and find the nearest Hardee’s.

Oscar Mayer: Unvegan Hero

Well, why not?
Well, why not?

While reading the most recent issue of Newsweek, I came across a full-page ad that simply could not be ignored.

Blogworthy. And why not? Oscar Mayer has always made fantastic meat products. Has a child ever grown up in America without having at least one Oscar Mayer meat on a sandwich? If not, they were truly deprived. They have two of the greatest jingles in television history. And the Wienermobile, a motor vehicle dedicated entirely to the advancement of meat. Who else can say that?

Al Michaels: Unvegan Hero

Al Michaels is truly a man after my own heart. Although I have never met him, I have seen him on hundreds of sports broadcasts. Until recently, I only thought of him as a great broadcaster, but new information has recently come to light. A friend has just alerted me to a story about this man who has now become a legend to me. In a recent interview at “The Big Lead,” the following transpired:
