Finally, I feel like I’ve been to just about all of the food trucks in LA that I have any desire to visit. Yes, I know I haven’t been to all of them, but I think I’ve been to enough to justify paying a visit to the Border Grill Truck, despite the fact that the Border Grill is already a restaurant I have been to. I guess I just wanted to see how an upscale Mexican restaurant could translate into a truck. International Respect For Chickens Day
May 4th, 2009I have just learned (albeit a bit late) that today is International Respect for Chickens Day (IRCD). My sixth sense must have told me, though, as I chose to write about Zankou Chicken today.
I wanted to write about this topic specifically because I fully support respecting chickens.
The best way I can think of to respect them is by eating them. I’m not sure if that’s what the United Poultry Concerns had in mind when they thought up this crazy day, but it’s sure how I feel. Just the thought of chickens makes me hungry. It’s something like eating the heart of a warrior that you have bested in the battlefield. We respect the chickens because we absorb their strength.

Going Global at Plan Check
A couple of weeks ago, The Backyard Bite invited me to The Burger Culture Clash, sponsored by Stussy (which apparently still exists) and Plan Check. Plan Check, by the way, is a sort of new (since February) restaurant in West LA with Chef Ernesto Uchimura of Umami Burger fame. As my love of burgers, especially those of the umami variety, I jumped at the opportunity.
Although I arrived alone, I was not the only lone eater. Just next to where I was seated, I met e*star LA and we decided to share a meal called loneliness, because it’s better than eating alone. We made quick friends over our respective blogs and Midwestern roots, then got to work at dissecting the special menu, which Plan Check will be featuring for the next month if anything tickles your fancy.
